HOME            Summer Job Information

Thank you for your interest in summer employment  with the Indiana Crop Improvement Association (ICIA).  Our association provides quality assurance services for the seed industry. Many of those service programs involve seed field inspection. Our goal is to hire individuals near the areas of production. This work has been ideal for many teachers, college students, farmers, housewives, retirees and others who have the time and ability to work independently.  It is outside work, has some flexibility and is good exercise! Visit other parts of our web site to learn more about who we are and what we do.

We need a soybean inspector in the Adams or Wells (Indiana) county area. We also need soybean inspectors in the following Ohio county areas:  Van Wert; Mercer; Champaign; Darke; Miami; Preble; and Shelby. Soybean inspection occurs primarily in the fall, from early September until late October, but we also do soybean inspections during bloom in July and early August in some areas. Again, the schedule and number of hours worked is quite flexible depending on the work load in the area.

Even if you are not located in our primary needs areas but have interest, please contact us and we will be happy to talk with you. Our needs change from season to season (sometimes even during a season), so we always welcome the opportunity to talk with prospective inspectors.

Candidates must have the use of a reliable automobile, the physical ability to walk in field conditions, common sense and a commitment to get the job done. We provide both classroom and field training, but once trained, inspectors work with a significant amount of independence. We pay inspectors hourly wages and the IRS mileage rate, and inspectors are covered under Workers Compensation.
